The #Bears are somewhat strapped for cash, but don't get it twisted: they can easily make some moves to afford Deshaun Watson if they traded for him.

🚨 THREAD INCOMING 🚨
The #Bears are currently over $10 million in the red right now. Two easy moves to get them out: restructure Khalil Mack and Kyle Fuller.

Doing that not only gets Chicago out of the red, but it also puts them at $9.6 million in cap space.
There are a few logical cuts the #Bears can make to create cap space, too:

- Jimmy Graham (saves $7 million)
- Bobby Massie (post-June 1 saves $8 million)
- Buster Skrine (post-June 1 saves $4.9 million)

Those moves, plus the restructures, put Chicago at roughly $29.5 million.
Watson will be on the fifth-year option deal in 2021, so his cap hit will only be $15.94 million next year. With those moves, the #Bears can afford him.

Even with Watson's $40.4 million cap hit in 2022, they could still afford him. Cuts like Leno, Quinn next year save more.
Trading for Watson would mean the #Bears would have to make a move or two if they wanted to also extend Allen Robinson.

It's a sad move to have to make, but trading Akiem Hicks saves them $10.5 million in 2021. Given he's a FA after next year, it could be in the cards.
By trading Hicks, that would put the #Bears (plus Watson) at around $24.1 million in cap space.

Spotrac has Allen Robinson at a $20 million AAV market value. Assuming he signs for about that much, he'd likely be able to squeeze underneath the cap there.
It's a tight fit, but Deshaun Watson is definitely a realistic target for the #Bears, at least from a financial perspective.

Will it happen? Probably not. But Chicago absolutely has the opportunity to make it work.
