Today’s brand run-through of the day is dedicated to my drug store hotties who love a good glow without having to break the bank, introducing @rosenskincare. The current  IT girls for Acne PURRRRRRR.

In this thread we’ll be covering the Tropics line which includes their tropics toner, Tropics moisturizer, and Rose water face dew – We’ll determine the product worthiness by examining ingredients and price point. + I have a code for you guys at the end to save u some extra coin.

First, a little brand background ---

@rosenskincare is a BLACK OWNED brand founded by @jmack. Jamika is a BOSS okay? A BOSS! She created the brand because she had difficulty managing her own acne using your  typical and repetitive benzol peroxide, salicylic, and sulfur washes.

I love ROSEN because the line is acne positive, unlike most brands they don’t pitch picture perfect skin they’re all about HEALTHY skin that makes you feel confident And we all know HEALTHY SKIN STILL BREAKSOUT, BREAKOUTS ARE NORMAL BBY AND YOUR STILL PRETTY WITTH UR BREAKOUTS!!

Anyways, ROSEN currently has 14 products in total 2 cleansers, 2 toners, 2 serums, 3 moisturizers, 3 mask, and 2 targeted treatments (YASSSSSS WE LOVE OPTIONS) all of the products are acne safe, barrier conscious, and pigment fading…

but like I said, we’ll keep it cute and simple with the tropics line today and visit the rest of the products at a later date. Deal? Deal.

Let’s dive into the tropics toner  [$18.00] –

-Kojic Acid
-Papya Powder
-Hyaluronic acid

Okay? These sound nice… but what do they does? Heard you –

[Ingredient breakdown]

Ananas Sativus Fruit or Pineapple extract is a mild exfoliant! So, the cool thing about pineapples that make them the superior enzyme IMO, is that they contain bromelain, bromelain is a group of enzymes found in the stem and juice of this luscious fruit.

What it does is lightly exfoliate your skin without causing inflammation. Think of fruit enzymes as like little packmen going onto the skin munching away at all the dead layers of your skin leaving you behind a radiant, healthy, smooth epidermis.

Kojic acid is a tyrosinase inhibitor. What’s that mean?

In short, Kojic acid STOPS the chance of you causing your skin to hyperpigment on the surface. A lot of the time those who are acne prone tend to have both breakouts and acne marks left behind because...

they’re either picking or not properly addressing their acne… in the event of this happening you’ll want to reach for tyrosinase inhibitors to help stop the overproduction of melanin in its tracks.

Papaya powder is another powerful yet gentle acne safe enzyme that’s responsible for getting that texture and inflammation up out of here!

Papain is the enzyme that dissolves keratin softening your skin and helping reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, texture, and eating at the bacteria that contribute to the production of acne.

By now, we’re probably all familiar with Hyaluronic acid.. she acts as your hydrating ingredient in the formula, its present in a nice % to help make sure your skin isn’t being over exfoliated while increasing cell production and moisture.

What would I grade the formula as a chemist? 9/10
As an esthetician 9/10

We love her! I just want to see a little bit more antioxidants present to make it a complete 10/10.

You’ll love this toner if you want a gentler budget friendly alternative to paulas choices bha, In my opinion, ROSEN’s toner offers more of a value and is going to help you reach your skin goals a little quicker.

I’d recommend this toner for night time use because the exfoliants present can make you sensitive to UV rays. You’ll want to leave it on overnight so that while you’re sleeping those pac men can be working on sloughting off that dead skin!

Do you have to be acne prone to use this product? NO! I’m not, I do get breakouts BUT my main concern is pigment and because of the ingredient profile this works perfectly for pigmented skin as well.

Next up, Tropics Moisturizer [$20.00]

In this formula, the Ananas Sativus Fruit or Pineapple extract works as a gentle exfoliant to help smooth the texture in your skin while fading the pigment

Isn’t that too harsh for everyday use? NOPE! Here’s why, the mango butter moisturizes while also strengthening your skin's natural protective barrier, which helps your skin retain moisture and helps remedy any other skincare issues your may be experiencing.

The hyaluronic acid also serves as an additional hydrator to help maintain your skins natural moisture.

What would I grade the formula as a chemist? 10/10

IT’S PERFECT. There’s literally nothing I would change about this product. The consistency is AMAZING.The results speak for themselves + it’s been used in my treatment room in replace of PCA’s clear skin

I recommend this product as a starter for any of my in person or virtual clients interested in starting on a moisturizer containing a retinol.

Instead of just jumping into a retinol moisturizer prime the skin with a moisturizer containing a gentle enzyme

Lastly, The lovely rose water face dew [$15.00]

The Radish Root extract in this formulas helps gently stop the growth of active bacteria at the skin's surface. It’s also a natural moisturizer and grade A preservative.

Rose centrifolia flower extract (rose water), Rosa Canina Seed (rose hip oil), and Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract are all antioxidants!

But what we really should notice is that the product is made out of authentic rose extracts without the excessive use of vegetable glycerins!
