Gonna explain GameStop stuff that few have pointed out .

To say it was common folk 'sticking it to rich people' isn't accurate. Other hedge funds moved stock and also profited off GameStop. People forget hedge fund managers are also Redditors. It's capitalism as intended. 1/x
People are thrilled to see common folk profiting off this and yes, they did. But they weren't the biggest winners. I am going to talk to y'all about this financial services company called Citadel.

To tell you how big this company is - they handle 2 out of EVERY 5 stock trades.
Citadel moved a lot of stock with GameStop, along with a few other companies who were also in the r/WallStreetBets subreddits. The losers were those like Melvin Capital, who took a billion in losses.

Here's why I say capitalism was working exactly as intended despite reddit. 3/x
Melvin Capital is folding. They need to sell off assets to cover their losses.

Guess who's one of the companies come to bail them out? Citadel.

A hedge fund company is now likely being absorbed by an even bigger hedge fund company, who can now earn even more billions. 4/x
When we are the small fry, we don't cheer when a smaller shark gets consumed by a bigger shark. Because it's gonna get to a point where nothing we do will ever affect that bigger shark. Not even the government shark.

Citadel CEO, Kenneth Griffin, is a Reagan Republican. 5/x
Also worth noting that it was E*l o*n M*u *s*k, noteworthy philanthrophist*, who egged people specifically to get GameStop because Melvin had shorted Tesla stock before. You betcha he profited here, too. 6/x

*gag
and whether or not that could be some weird new form of "insider trading" is dependent on how rich the defendant is, lmao.

Best case scenario is to do away with stocks altogether, or turn it into a battle royale where *everyone* can easily buy in. Not gonna happen though. 7/x
Wall Street is a rich person's casino. Too much money circulating than there are things to buy that money with, and rather than throw that back into investing in people, rich people invent imaginary things to invest in to keep it among themselves. THAT we should destroy. 8/end
source: I am a redditor and yes, lmao

If y'all wanna be selfish as is our right in capitalism, don't buy GameStop and AMC anymore, go to subreddits and see what the next speculation is BEFORE it hits the news***

***not an endorsement of anything, just throwing out random words
clarifying just a bit: for real this will make a mess out of the stock market and I am always all for that

but to say that no one from Wall Street is profiting is wishful thinking. We don't want a world where Disney and Citadel controls everything, right?
