Maybe there'll be a good explanation when the smoke clears. But for now, a brokerage restricting trades breaks a fundamental rule of the game in my opinion. That you can buy and sell freely on the public market. I thought $GME $AMC and more would crash, but not like this...
What can you do about it? Again, while I don't like how it went down, many of us feared the GameStop trade wouldn't end well. If we're honest, probably a lot of the people trading GameStop even felt the same way, but they thought they could get out in time.
They were willing to take a risky gamble. And they have every right to. And I still hope it goes well. Truly, I do.
But why risk in the first place? Could it be that some believe it's their only shot at gaining riches?

Did you know that a single $10k investment compounded at a 15% rate for 33 years will be worth $1 million? Don't have $10k? What can you invest now that can earn a safe 15%? I assure you, there's dozens of candidates. Find them. Buy them. Hold them. And no one can screw you

But I still hold PayPal today. Up 550%, boy I'm glad I sunk what I could into it (better than my 15% annual goal). But I kept buying others when I could... $TREX, $MKSI, ha and even #bitcoin

Who doesn't want to 10x their money in a month? I do. But I believe I can win the game with a good track record for accuracy, a modest return, and a long time horizon without the risk.
My appeal is don't feel like it's high-stakes gambling or nothing. You can get rich slowly.
