Them: Why aren’t Black/brown folks getting vaccinated as quickly as white people?

Us: Uhhh...medical racism?

THREAD:
You’ve probably heard that a new COVID-19 vaccine has been released for the public health care workers to start administering.

We’ve seen the Biden-Harris administration on national tv get vaccinated, and other political figures urging the American folks to *trust* the vaccine.
OK—fine. But Black + Latinx folks are receiving the vaccine at a lower rate—like seriously lower rates than white people, and it’s starting to give us medical racism.
So, now that we know why Black/brown folks aren’t getting as much access to the vaccine as white folks, let’s find out why Black/brown folks who DO have the opportunity to get the vaccine are apprehensive.
Just look at the Tuskegee experiments of the ’50s, the coerced sterilization of Black women in the ’70s, the forced sterilization of ⅓ of Puerto Rican women during most of the 20th century, or the forced hysterectomies of ICE detainees that came to light last year.
