One reason the GOP "ughhhhhhhh, let's move FORWARD! January 6 was SO LONG ago!" thing is not only dishonest, but actually dangerous: stories like these are still coming out every day. These are new! Separate from the attack on the Capitol.
There is currently a major threat of right-wing violence (actual violence... with things like guns and bombs and whatnot), but look at the entire Republican party right now: they act offended if you suggest that maybe this is something worth being concerned about.
And the ones taking offense at the idea of "guilt by association" when the "association" was that they, too, were floating the far-right conspiracy theories and lies about the election that are currently fueling terrorist threats... give me a break with this garbage.
They're sending a message that beyond winking and saying "of course we disagree with that," they're not only fine with the attack that happened, but they're fine with future attacks as well.
There was one very specific thing that people who spread the Big Lie about the election needed to do, but none of them did it:

Admit that you lied about it. That's it. Just acknowledge that you know there wasn't fraud, that it was just good politics for you. That's all.
And journalists are failing us by refusing to stay on this story.

Every. Single. Republican. Who. Spread. The. Lie. About. The. Election. Needs. To. Be. Shunned. Until. They. Admit. They. Lied.

That's all. It's not "canceling," it's holding them responsible.
You can't invite people on your Sunday shows to have a nice little chit-chat about whether they think Biden is doing enough to unify the country until they admit that they continue to feed the lies that are *CURRENTLY* fueling terrorism.
Everything that's happened has been so extremely predictable. If journalists just move on from the fact that there's a rising right-wing terrorist threat being fueled by members of congress and conservative media, it'll only cause that threat to grow.
Anyway, I've been reading a lot about right-wing terrorist movements as they connect to media coverage these past couple of days for a piece I'm working on, and the whole thing is very frustrating!
