In the past couple weeks I started getting emails from a company named @HalstedLLC. I didn't even notice them and figured it was routine spam. I opened one and saw it was a collection agency but the account was not mine.
I tried calling them 3 times today and spoke to multiple people. They claimed to be unable to pull up their own account number or provide me any information about it. Finally got a manager on the phone today and they hung up when I saw I was recording.
I am not sure what nature of business @HalstedLLC is in but it seems scammy as hell. If any reporters I know are interested in checking them out hit me up.

I left a message for him on his cell and also will be contacting local officials. I can't imagine the experience people have dealing with places like this that don't have the tools I do.
When I gave them the account number they spammed me about they claimed it was "restricted" and they couldn't tell me anything about it. Every call was answered by a different person. Basically seems like some kind of shady call center operation.
Talking to the "general counsel" now. I am also reporting this to @KwameRaoul's office. I am not sure exactly what this is but it's predatory and weird.
It just makes me really upset to think of people with less resources than me who might be scared by this stuff. I was worried my identity had been stolen.
Just a totally normal lawyer with multiple companies headquartered at PO Boxes doing totally normal and cool lawyer things.
You guys, I made @HalstedLLC "general counsel" Brian S. Glass upset. What a shame.
This dude's business contacted me five times. He got upset when I found him and reached out directly. They tried to scam the wrong one today.
Brian says he's calling the police because I used publicly available information after his business repeatedly contacted me. That's, um, not how the law works.
Brian S. Glass just called me - after I had told him not to - and said "you don't know who you're fucking with."

I should note these folks tried to get my social over the phone. They also told me they were recording - but only after I said I was. That's not legal in Illinois.
