I want to talk about the absurd and beautiful alchemy of the @GLucasTalkShow. @GriffLightning, playing Watto from the Star Wars prequels goes on a very extended monologue of how @bader_diedrich’s early appearance on Cheers was a harbinger of great things…
Griff plays Watto as a sidekick, basically an IRL shitposter, & is frankly excellent at maintaining character in fun way. BUT, the show is literally hrs long (in this case they are 6+ hours in) so naturally, many of Griff’s own interests and inclinations poke through…
Which includes a true love of media, acting and specifically the type of excellent & talented working professional actor that Diedrich represents. So Griff-as-Watto ends up delivering a very sincere and heartfelt tribute to a brief appearance…
Diedrich is obviously very touched. And the audience, who knows the character of Watto as the jester, is also touched to see such a moment of sincerity shine through (even though like I said, it’s basically just Griff saying it as himself)…
The length of these shows & Twitch stream element allow these extended conversation w/ less prominent actors to even happen. And the layers of character/ actor allow for moments like this to really land amidst all the chaos and hilarity...
It's such a bizarre, hilarious, and inviting world they create. What I'm saying is that @GLucasTalkShow rules and @patrickcotnoir @GriffLightning @connorratliff and the many behind the scenes folks rule as well.
