This decision follows weeks of decreasing case rates and test positivity across all ages, decreasing wastewater signals,

1-This has come at a heavy cost to kids and families.

2-not every school board is reopening (although trends are ↘️in most regions👍🏾🤞🏾).

There is no true safety threshold (except #COVIDZero).

Relying on metrics alone will reproduce inequities without addressing processes

We know that school reopening will lead to more contacts, and more opportunities for transmission.

So next steps for schools:
Ensure compliance with masks, distance, handwashing, restricted cohorts

For parents:
Get [household] tested for symptoms, exposures, surveillance

For our community:
Continue societal restrictions (i.e. no carpooling/expanded gatherings, no extra-curriculars)

Let's call this a period of #SchoolSelfIsolation.

School reopening is ABOUT THE KIDS, not adults.

Let's get them back with our best efforts.
