Now, as much as I love the storytelling/time-travelling opportunities that old photographs afford me (and usually sleep soundly), this quote is going to leave me staring at the ceiling tonight...
We are, in the end, defined by stories; the ones we tell, the ones people tell about us, and the ones we tell ourselves.
In some cultures, they say a person dies three times - first when they physically die; secondly, when all who knew them die, and, finally, when people stop telling stories about them.
It doesn't matter whether we are wrapped in furs, sitting by a fire in a cave - laughing about what happened to 'Ug' on that day's mammoth hunt - or staring into the glow of a PC, phone, or tablet - we are all looking for stories.
