No workplace, no workplace harassment? Wrong.

In my first for @thewalrus, I explored why the pandemic has driven harassment and bullying online, worsening many Canadians' experiences and fueling underreporting: https://thewalrus.ca/workplace-harassment-goes-virtual/
Across the board, employers are failing in their duty to protect their staff, with terrible consequences. Denise Koster, a workplace harassment specialist, says almost every client she has at the moment is on stress leave, and some have even developed PTSD from the abuse.
Even before COVID, we were staring at a black hole of data. What we do know tells us it's misunderstood: 56% of men aged 18 to 34 agree that “it’s hard to tell where ‘the line’ is these days” between acceptable & inappropriate behaviour. The older the men, the higher the number.
And underreporting is rampant. Widespread pandemic-induced lay-offs have further discouraged people from coming forward. “Women already feared reprisal [before the pandemic],” says Anuradha Dugal with @cdnwomenfdn.
Have you experienced harassment in your workplace since the start of the pandemic? Is your employer adequately responding to reports?

Thanks to @tajjaisen for being a phenomenal editor and sounding board for this story. I can’t tell you how much better she made the piece.
