I don't usually do this, but multiple posts about something silly. So I watched about 20 mins of 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' this AM while eating breakfast. Yes, I know, Mickey Rooney's character is horrible. But I'm looking at it, and there's this wealthy bachelor at a party (1/9)
named 'Rusty Trawler,' and I thought this guy looks familiar. And then I realize, wait, this is the dude that brought the Tribbles on the Enterprise. So I look it up, and yes, it is, in fact, Stanley Adams, who played Cyrano Jones in 'The Trouble with the Tribbles'. (2/9)
Then, as I'm watching the party scene in Tiffany's, he leaves with Hepburn at the end of the party because the cops are coming, and the party is complete pandemonium. (3/9)
As he exits with her, he walks through the party with his drink raised high to protect it and take it with him. And because I've seen 'The Trouble with the Tribbles' (S2:E15) about 1000 times (although not lately)(4/9)
I remembered that in a big fight scene on a space station in that episode, he does the same thing, gingerly exiting with his drink held high, and they make a meal out of the joke. With multiple shots of him doing that. (5/9)
Until he gets to the exit right as the bartender returns with security to break up the fight and takes his long protected drink, he has the last laugh, though when he pulls another one out of one of his jacket pockets. (6/9)
So I guess I'm thinking that all of the choreography for the fighting in that scene centered around him doing an homage to his character in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Freaky. (7/9)
Then I found out that he also CO-WROTE another famous episode of the old Star Trek, ‘The Mark of Gideon’! (S3:E16) A terrifying episode about overpopulation that he apparently had told Gene Roddenberry worried him and Roddenberry said, ‘write it’. Wow. (8/9)
Of course, I looked into him further because that's what we do, and I was sad to see that he took his own life when he was 62. He was in a lot of stuff! Wonderful Character actor and writer too. #ripstanleyadams #startrek (9/9)
