In a way that mirrors the film industry, records could be available only on vinyl for the first month that they’re released before they become available everywhere for streaming. (2/9)
Artists and labels could still make 1-3 singles off the album available on DSPs during that first month to help promote the full length and give new listeners a sample of what to expect on the album. (3/9)
Press outlets would have access to full albums leading up to the “vinyl only” release month so album reviews would drop before anyone could stream an album in full, whetting fans appetites and giving them a nudge to go buy it! (4/9)

A cool way to roll this out would be if a large indie label group (or groups) sent out a press release letting the world know that all future albums would only be available physically for the first month along with the announcement of a few anticipated albums. (6/9)
HMU if you’re interested in getting connected with other labels who are interested in adopting this system or if you want to hear about more of the granular details about the benefits and how this could be implemented. (7/9)
There are already artists doing it this way and with some obvious adjustments, it could become the new industry standard. (8/9)
P.S. albums could also be available for purchase and download via @Bandcamp during the album release month. Bandcamp rules. (9/9)
