(1/25) - yep, it's a long thread

From March 2020, independent venues in the UK (and all over the world!) changed forever. Live gigs & shows were unable to go ahead, businesses had to close and we became more reliant on online gatherings than ever before!
(2/25)

We wanted to highlight venues, personally. We wish we could include you all - there are 100s of fabulous establishments across the country! Here's a selection of venues throughout the UK - all these places & people are near and dear to our hearts! We love ya!

(3/25)
The Old Fire Station, Bournemouth - We've always had a crackin' time at the Old Fire Station when we've visited. This eclectic independent focuses on live music and amazing club nights, making it one of the centre spots of the town!
(4/25)
(4/25)
@exchangebristol - Exchange is a historic grassroots music venue! Recently, they've been very innovative with online creative content & performances. We love to see it! They have some amazing events throughout Independent Venue Week, which you can see at their website!
(5/25)
(5/25)
The Joiners, Southampton - A personal favourite of our Manager @allywolf, The Joiners Arms is the living, breathing embodiment of what it takes to be an independent live music venue. It gave Ally one of his first shots at promoting live shows...
...and has been the first port of call for Oasis, Radiohead, Arctic Monkey and so many more bands on their first ever tours! It’s a foundation stone of not just Southampton, but the entire touring live music industry!
(7/25)
(7/25)
@CambJunction - The live music & arts venue has put out tons of online content over the last year. They cater to everyone - music fans, families, comedy lovers and more! On their website, they say "The venue in Cambridge where arts means life" and we couldn't agree more!
(8/25)
(8/25)
@TroxyLondon -One of our neighbour venues! We can't get enough of The Troxy! The amount of music, comedy & drag we've seen there is endless! They helped us with our re-opening / government pilot by lending us some of their gorgeous chairs. Independent venues stick together!
The Clapham Grand, London - Well, who allowed this fine-looking specimen in on the Zoom call? We are actually honoured we exist alongside venues like these. We are not only proud of our own independence but to be part of a family of venues like the ones on this call.
(10/25)
(10/25)
@TheMoonCardiff - This venue is one of the coolest places in Wales. The Moon is a non-profit venue which hosts a variety of entertainment - including free nights every Fridays & Saturdays! Post-covid, see you there for a long weekend?
(11/25)
(11/25)
@TheGloryLondon - We LOVE The Glory. Our smaller, messier (dare we say it, cooler?) younger sibling. Home to some of the most creative and fun-filled souls in London ( @JonnyWooUK, @John_Sizzle & Team)
...and the curators of the annual Lip Sync 1000 Drag contest which takes over our venue every summer for their final!
(13/25)
(13/25)
Albert Hall, Manchester - Our Northern Twin! The Manchester home of @BongosBingo, and with many other shared events as ourselves. The Albert Hall is a stunningly restored chapel hosting as varied, colourful and amazing line up of shows. A complete win of a venue!
(14/25)
(14/25)
@phoenixartsclub - Phoenix Arts Club, London - One of our favourite cabaret spaces in the capital. To run an independent entertainment space in the heart of London's West End is no easy feat but The Phoenix Arts Club has been going for over 30 years!...
...They continue to amaze us with their innovative shows, showcased in between their rustically-glamorous, theatrical walls.
(16/25)
(16/25)
@KomediaBrighton - The Komedia has a little bit of everything and is UNMISSABLE in Brighton. Cinema, music venue, cabaret space, spoken word & more across a multitude of rooms - plus regular club nights! The perfect end to an evening after a trip to the seaside, we say!
(17/25)
(17/25)
@thervt - Our Vauxhall based neighbours and one of the finest cabaret venues in London Town! The RVT is steeped in LGBTQ+ rights history, always on the front foot to champion equals rights, drawing vocal support from the likes of Sir Ian McKellen & Paul O’Grady...
...Princess Diana and Freddie Mercury to name but a few famous faces have partied there, and it’s one of our favourite performers @myradubois's spiritual home! @JasonReidUK, James Lindsay and team - big love!
(19/25)
(19/25)
@GrandCentralHal - One of the bigger venues mentioned in one of Liverpool's most historic buildings! It's the essence of variety and that's why we love it! It's even a hotel so you don't even have to leave when enjoying a weekend of proper variety entertainment.
(20/25)
(20/25)
@nottartstheatre - This classic independent theatre is one of the area's best kept secrets. The venue hosts a varied programme of shows over the year and as a charity, its keen to "support the cultural development of the city". It offers opportunities and entertainment for all!
@BGWMC - An underground & cult venue, there isn’t a cabaret performer, comedian or new concept led night that hasn’t cut their teeth at BGMC. Not afraid to take risks, and run by some of the loveliest humans on the planet...
...It’s where we first discovered our Movie host Loose Baker from Shesus and the Sisters Shesus and @Basement_London and where @SinkThePinkLDN started! You’ll also recognise the famous love heart frame stage from videos by Kylie Minogue and Liam Gallagher!
(23/25)
(23/25)
@IVW_UK Independent Venue Week - Finally, IVW is able to take all these venues and more and highlight the amazing stuff they are doing! This year, they are supporting over 110 venues across 12 regions with 141 online events and counting! WOW!
(24/25)
(24/25)
All these venues and every independent across the country work so hard for their communities. Keep supporting your local independents! We can't wait for us all to be in full bloom again!
