The Broncos' rebuild is going onto its fourth year. The roster is ready for the QB to take it to new heights and the big question is now whether George Paton believes that guy is Drew Lock.
The rebuild effectively began, in my opinion, in 2018 when the team built the Case Keenum bridge while re-setting culture through the NFL Draft.
The Broncos have slowly been following the Chiefs' blueprint and they violently shoved in that direction with the picks of Jeudy/Hamler/Fant in the last 2 years.
Here's a bit of trivia for you:
How many 1st-round starters are on the Chiefs' defense right now?
How many 1st-round starters are on the Chiefs' defense right now?
This is not to say THE ONLY WAY TO BUILD A DEFENSE IS NOT USING 1ST ROUND PICKS ON IT
Don't miss the point -- the point is that the way you have to build your team right now is to outscore the Chiefs.

The upside is there with Drew Lock depending on the eyes of the beholder. The question is are you going to pass on these opportunities at present to bank on the upside? The wrong answer won't be known for at least a year.
The Broncos have an old, veteran coaching staff and frankly I'm not sure any team has played the Chiefs' offense better than Fangio's D this past year. That was with a patchwork unit.
I have obviously been one in the camp of continuing to support Drew Lock through his development, but the moment George Paton was hired, there is no question that the idea of the Broncos moving on from Lock became more realistic.
The Broncos' coaching staff probably doesn't have another year to "rebuild". The time to compete is right now while your key young players are still on rookie contracts.
Ultimately, I'm not so much advocating that the Broncos move on from Lock so much as I am advocating that we move on from the idea that this is a "rebuilding" team. The team has been rebuilding and we're now on the back half of it. That is where you have to have hi expectations
You can't wait for the players to all be fully developed and then say, "Well, the pieces are clearly in place!"
This is 2012 Broncos situation with loads of young skill talent and a vastly improved OL which the QB has to be able to maximize.

You can call me crazy or whatever, but if it was all about roster, I think Stafford or Watson would be crazy to choose other teams over Denver right now.
And frankly, I think it's crazy to think that is a crazy sentiment. George Paton himself called the roster he inherited a "sleeping giant" so what does that mean?
How do you wake up the giant?
