@BBCBreakfast @TVNaga01 Re your #LongCovid coverage this am, spec. interview with Dr Gerada & Prof Garner @ 0839am
Pls be aware advice given re recovery with increasing exercise esp. can be v dangerous for some. Disclaimer & repeat discussion needed 1/2 https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000rpsz/breakfast-28012021
2/3 The correct advice is for initial REST, followed by #pacing of activity
While most with postviral syndromes do fully recover, some risk long term disability, like #MECFS
It is essential warnings & learning r given re signs & risk factors, most notably Post exertional malaise
3/3 With the need for balance & safe education, especially from the @BBC @BBCBreakfast
Rather than quick advice to increase exercise - potentially dangerous, seek further expertise & repeat/further discussion with range experts
Such as @MEAssociation @actionforme @PhysiosForME
@BBCHughPym @BBCFergusWalsh @JamesTGallagher please help to ensure advice given on @BBCNews & @BBCBreakfast (even by experts) is safe balanced & complies with current @NICEComms guidance
#LongCovid is an emerging field yes, but evidence & research exists from Post viral syndromes
