1/6 Today is #BellLetsTalk
. Here's my story.
I had my first panic attack in 2012. I was at work at the time and too nervous to tell anyone how I was feeling, so I crawled under my desk. I remember crying, trying to catch my breath and calling my physician for help

2/6 It was my body’s natural reaction to heightened stress, that fight-or-flight response we naturally get from extreme anxiety. I was doing my best to manage it but sometimes things come to the surface… when you least expect it.
3/6 I started CBT therapy shortly after to learn more about my body’s reaction to stress and was able to manage it for several years without issue... Then in 2017, I started feeling panicked and blue again. This time I was prepartum anxiety.
4/6 I wasn’t aware that prepartum depression existed, but I recognized that anxious feeling immediately… feeling trapped and my heart racing. So, I knew that I needed to reach out for support again.
5/6 I enrolled in the @WCHospital Life Stages program which provides counselling to women throughout their pregnancy and one year postpartum. It was one of the best things I could have done. They helped validate some of the very real and NEW feelings I was having.
6/6 Anxiety and depression can be a lonely experience, but it doesn’t have to be. Reach out for support – call a friend, find a therapist, call 2-1-1 ( @211help) or reach out to @camhfoundation. You may surprise yourself at how truly resilient we are…. With a just a little help.
