1/ If I'd told you last March that in 2020 #Covid would kill about 1/5 as many Americans under 50 as drug overdoses;

That you would probably not know anyone who had died;

That you almost certainly would not know anyone under 75 who wasn't already very sick who had died;

2/ That regional hospital systems would NEVER fail to keep pace with the number of Covid patients (that is, they would always have beds for both Covid and non-Covid patients);

That the field hospitals would be basically unused;

That most people would recover quickly;

3/ That children (aside from those with extremely serious comorbidities) would prove to be close to immune to serious effects from #sarscov2;

And that there would be NO serious supply chain effects (i.e. food and energy have ALWAYS been available);

You would have been THRILLED;

4/ But if I had told you that last March, you'd be required to wear a mask (despite a first-rate scientific trial showing it did not protect you at all);

That your kids wouldn't be allowed in school and many would be seriously facing the prospect of no real school in 2021-22;

5/ That many states had rules discouraging interstate travel;

That you couldn't eat inside in much of the country;

That the live arts and most in-person religious services no longer existed;

And that you were being constantly told to get a vaccine of unproven safety;

6/ You would have been FURIOUS. You would have told me, no way will I stand for that. No way will WE stand for that.

But we have.

The ro has proven to be so much less dangerous than we feared; and our response has proven to be so much more dangerous.

When will people wake up?
