Why J. Cole is one of the most important rappers in my life (well more like my journey thru Coleâs music) A THREAD:
Happy birthday to a goat

I guess Iâll format this as like a story of how I discovered his music
So it all started when âWork Outâ was super huge and all over the radio. I think this was the first Cole song I ever heard. I remember liking it but never listened to a whole album

Think the next song I heard was âPower Tripâ and âAll I Want is Youâ and I LOVED them I even had the Miguel song on my lil iPod nano
still never peeped a whole album from him lol

The thing is when youâre younger you never really go out your way to listen to whole albums (unless Iâm the only one
) but I loved the radio hits and whatever else I heard from him so I considered myself a big fan even back then

Flash forward to my sophomore year in 2014 when FHD dropped and FINALLY I listen to a full Cole album
I was OBSESSED with it bro it was on repeat fr

Shit I remember staying at my exâs house on some holiday till like 4am just listening to that album and playin monopoly lmao shit was litty
From there until a little before when 4YEO dropped, FHD was the only Cole project I listened to
then I heard he was dropping again so I went on a binge
...Villuminati was one of my fav Cole songs lmaooo

So 4YEO drops... and I didnât like it at first
I thought it was nowhere near the masterpiece he dropped just a couple years prior lmaoo I just wasnât feeling the more laid back and slow vibes this album gave idk

BUT! It all changed when I saw him in concert. Such a fucking amazing experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. I felt every emotion and was able to connect with that album on a deeper level thanks to seeing how he performed.
My mom the goat for taking me

So after the concert I was properly obsessed with his music lmao I couldnât get enough and he was one of my fav rappers ever right under Kendrick and probably Jay Z
Then he dropped KOD...
Then he dropped KOD...
I fucking loved KOD when I came out lmao it was on repeat for mad long I even listened to it while I was at work and had downtime (I still really enjoy the album now)
Then from there we get the incredible feature run and then some dope singles all leading up to ROTD3. And of course I loved all of them
Enjoy this old ass video I sent to my homies

ROTD3 drops and I enjoyed it but actually around this time I started listening to more ppl and Cole started falling off for me
still enjoyed his music a lot but wasnât as obsessed as I used to be

Then sometime last year maybe around March ish I fall in love with his music again. I actually go out and listen to his tapes bc I never bothered to before and instantly love them. Shit Iâm listening to FNL as Iâm typing this

So then I start an agenda on Twitter and get known as the J. Cole guy and the rest is history lmaoo
Genuinely J. Coleâs music has gotten me thru some rough times and even inspired me to achieve greater things in a way.
Just the way he expresses his stories is incredible and makes it easy for anyone to understand itâs almost impossible to not feel at least one of his songs
