He was known as the Gloucester Miser.
He may have been the inspiration for Charles Dickens Scrooge.

Jemmy wore the same old clothes for years and when travelling to London one time he took offence at a gentleman laughing at his appearance.
He bet the man 5 pounds that when they arrived in London he could enter a Bank and cash 10,000 pounds.
