If we're going to lose $1.5b on KXL let's at least learn something from it: the new US administration isn't playing about on climate change. We shouldn't either.

The world's changing. We can rail against that change or we can get down to the business of building the next Alberta
Despite all our gnashing of teeth and the very real economic pain too many people are feeling, we are still an incredibly prosperous province.

How will we use that prosperity while it remains? How will we ensure future prosperity? What's the legacy we will leave to our children?
In the 90s we used to talk more about the day after oil. It is, after all, a finite resource. But in this fever moment it seems almost heretical to suggest we won't always be able to make our living extracting fossil fuels. We won't - that was always true.
At worst (or best, depending on your POV), it's just coming faster than we expected.

We have so much going for us. Let's stand up for AB interests, sure, but let's not waste our talents fighting for the return of the early 2000s.
