Let's talk about an underrated issue: MASK QUALITY.

When they first started encouraging people to wear masks, there was widespread concern about PPE shortages so the guidance was that normal people should wear cloth masks.

Shortages are gone, but the guidance hasn't changed.
Back in April, I was advocating a federal "masks for all" initiative to address shortages of MEDICAL-GRADE MASKS.

That never happened and right now doesn't seem necessary. But it's in the toolkit of shortages arise. https://www.vox.com/2020/4/15/21219618/ppe-shortage-solution-mercatus
What kind of masks?

I wear a KN-95 when I'm grocery shopping or otherwise in a high-risk situation. I find them uncomfortable, though, so use a surgical mask for outdoor stuff where the risk is lower.

But here's an important point: You don't want fake masks!
I've often played the role of Amazon Apologist on here, but they are unfortunately bad actors when it comes to counterfeit goods.

Here's @CardiffGarcia reporting on Amazon and car seats. Same problem with certified masks.

So go to your neighborhood hardware store or to Walmart or Costco or Home Deport or Loews or whatever.

Pretty much all brick-and-mortar chains have the old fashioned idea that you shouldn't sell fake stuff.
