Y’all wanna know why we aren’t making progress on diversity and inclusion at BG? Because we keep hosting these panels without discussing action steps. We can have these conversations all day but without creating action steps we did nothing but have a conversation
On top of that, BG isn’t monitoring how their faculty/staff/professors are upholding diversity and inclusion on the job. So what if Professor A has 3 PHDs and wrote 8 books if he can’t work with people who don’t look like him.
Essentially, bowling green needs to equip its students with ways to actively become inclusive but how do they do that when BG’s administration doesn’t even have the tools to do so themselves?
How do we become a more inclusive campus? Why aren’t we making the progress necessary? Starting these conversations is an amazing start BUT it’s time to hold administration accountable for their performative actions and their lack of protecting marginalized students.
