Agents send me good shit that I attempt to prioritize (by sub date? excitement level? what I have less of? which is going fastest? still working that one out) & choose between.

Sometimes, I acquire too much YA. Now they have to fight for attention on a list that includes the YA acquired by my colleagues. Oops, I have too many rom-coms, but there's 37 other rom-coms in my inbox & I want them! But now I have to be more selective of that genre in my inbox.
Sometimes, I acquire too many books for a single season. Do I move books of the same type to try & acquire something else? Do I move books so I have more time to devote to each one individually? Is that fair to my authors? Is that fair to my inbox?
At the end of the day, the resources I use to acquire are... finite. & it sucks to reject something bc "oops, I ran out of XYX." But it also sucks to hoard subs bc I planned poorly or wasn't selective enough or something was going quickly & I wanted to get my gremlin hands on it.
I wish I could acquire everything my overzealous heart desires, but that's not how this works, whether for lack of $$$, space on my list, literal time, or other resources I don't control.

OH MAN, AND ANOTHER THING: When editors leave and their books need new homes, so I've suddenly inherited four books in an already packed season that must be given love and attention!!!
