As an EU citizen I would love to be able to engage politically and challenge the European tier of government on its political choices without every issue being spun as an existential argument about whether the EU should even exist. I want to defend the idea, not every decision.
People who think that, because I work for the EU and passionately back European integration, I will always defend anything the EU does, just don’t get it at all. https://ottocr.at/whats-a-eurosceptic/
As an EU citizen, I especially want to be able to engage in the political process without people who are not EU citizens failing to mind their own goddamn business and telling me why my political process is illegitimate and shouldn’t exist.
ESPECIALLY given the state of theirs.
Also, here’s a prediction*: the UK’s political class is going to pay far more attention to EU policies and politics going forward than it ever did when this was a branch of domestic politics.

As an EU member, UK press and politicians defensively sneered at EU politics and made out they were above it. After Brexit, they won’t, because (a) they can’t and (b) their narrative of the EU as competitor/hostile power.
