Thread - 1 of 12: What does "unity" mean? Here's what it means:
2) Unity means that everyone wears a mask to protect your health and the health of others, because science has cleary shown that masks work.
3) Unity means that we all agree that Joe Biden was legitimately elected as the 46th president, because there is absolutely no actual evidence otherwise.
4) Unity means that we accept the overwhelming scientific proof that global warming is real, and do something about it in order to save our planet.
5) Unity means quickly approving President Biden's highly qualified cabinet picks so they can get to work.
6) Unity means acknowledging the institutional racism that is inherent in our country, and doing everything possible for racial justice and equity.
7) Unity is ensuring that every person in this country has a decent roof over their, food on the table, health care, and access to a good education - because unity means everyone is entitled to have their basic needs met.
8) Unity is guaranteeing that anyone willing to work 40 hours per week in this country can support themselves and their family - because that will help unify us and make all lives better.
9) Unity means for the good of the country acknowledging that Donald Trump clearly incited the attempted coup January 6th (just watch the tape) and holding him fully responsible.
10) And here's what unity is not: acknowledging whatever the other side says is valid no matter what facts say, throwing a bone to poltical opposition to make them feel good, not standing up for a cause because others may oppose it, public policies that favor the rich & powerful.
11) Unity is not: quickly "moving on" from the first attack on the US Capitol since 1814, that left 6 dead, and endangered the lives of members of Congress, their staff, and the Vice President, without holding those responsible fully accountable.
12) And lastly, unity is not: deciding for the "greater good" not to call out those who seek to divide our country, who oppress others, who favor throwing out million of votes legally cast (particularly by African Americans), & who support the overthrow of our democracy.
