people being real selfish right now.

If you want schools back open and your kids back in schools then you should be pushing for Teachers to be at the front of the line for vaccinations and for schools to have funding to actually open safely https://twitter.com/lutzfernandez/status/1353657513711972353
Folks be wanting teachers to be super heroes and then also be paid peanuts.

Nah.

We know schools are gonna struggle to be safe. we know classrooms are overcrowded and HVAC systems are trash
we know both of those things were true BEFORE the pandemic and you want me to believe they’ve been corrected when we know the money wasn’t put to that? fuckouttahere
people trying to bad mouth the teacher unions but they’re the only ones looking out for everyone’s safety.
Also, i’m tired of seeing the claim that schools need to reopen because kids aren’t socializing and are struggling mentally because of virtual learning

Kids are struggling because its a goddamn pandemic and they live in a country that for 6-8 months didn’t take it seriously
even when schools open up kids are still going to struggle cause they’re not gonna be able to socialize like they use to….BECAUSE ITS A PANDEMIC
you want schools open? Cool. then prioritize teachers and daycare providers for vaccines. put all your money into making school safe and less crowded. That means putting that to those schools serving predominatingly black and brown kids too
“its time for schools to reopen”

I’m sorry, I must have missed the mass vaccinations and lower death tolls. Cause i could have sworn i just saw something about 83,000 more deaths in 3 weeks.
Lot of ppl miss reading that CDC report about schools being safe. the big caveat was ‘IF SAFETY MEASURES ARE IN PLACE’

yeah, most schools don’t have that. you can’t cherry pick schools that do and say “welp, schools are safe'
