hey did you guys know that the symbols on the character portraits show which region they're from? mondstadt characters have the four symbols of the wind, liyue has symbols of war, commerce and its harbor.
there are some differences for certain characters-for example xiao, ganyu and zhongli have symbols of the adepti, which represent their statuses as adepti themselves.
the only characters that don't have any clear identifying symbols are the travelers. at first, i thought they were blank, but upon closer inspection they're actually the same diamond-in-circle pattern that shows up everywhere. it's even on their clothes!
what does this mean? the obvious conclusion would be that the travelers are from khaenri'ah. this holds up, when you look at albedo and kaeya. they all have similar motifs.
we could try justifying it by saying it's nothing more than a design choice, but that would be a flat out lie. so what else could possibly prove this strange point?
their lack of a need for visions.
their lack of a need for visions.
albedo's alchemy is a product of khaenri'ah. we know this from his collected miscellany video, but he doesn't need a vision to conduct his research.
the travelers don't need a vision to use the elements, which is strange in itself. however, after fighting childe, there's these two dialogue options.
"I'm gradually restoring my former power..." of course the traveler would know what this former power was, but when we tie it +

into what we already know about khaenri'ah, it would seem that they don't need visions or the elements to get things done.
it's very possible that their former power was being able to wield all elements through some abyssal means.

khaenri'ah is can be considered another land or world. celestia rules over teyvat, which is consistently refered to as a continent, rather than a world--that leaves the possibility that there are other continents in this world, and khaenri'ah could be one of them.
if that's the case, then the unknown god proclaiming that "Outlanders, your journey ends here." would make sense. the unknown god, or the sustainer of heavenly principles, may be an agent of celestia preventing others from leaving teyvat, or denying celestia.
it's well established that khaenri'ah and celestia aren't on good terms, with dainsleif wanting to deny the gods with "a power from beyond."
is this power the perhaps perfected or purer form of the traveler's "former power"? or is it something else entirely?

admittedly, i made this thread on a whim so there may be holes in the theory. i just wanted to bring attention to something i thought was interesting! and i'm also a beginner theorist so please bear with me m( _ _ )m
