I think Armenians fundamentally do not understand culture
1) theres no such thing as being 100% Armenian. հերիքա
2) Armenianness is not a genetic experience but a lived one. Culture is not biologically determined; its in WHAT you do and HOW you do it. Its that simple

As someone who studies and thinks about Armenianness for a living, I find it amusing that so many people really think “preserving culture” boils down to marrying another person who thinks they’re also “100% Armenian” and calling it a day lol
People really out here thinking mixed Armenians are the problem when many “100% Armenians” know very little of the heritage they claim to protect and are in fact the ones in positions of power whitewashing our culture

I just need us to know that “preserving” our heritage means Living it. Knowing it. Respecting it. Reinvigorating it. Stop w the ugliness towards our precious mixed and queer Armos. Instead of bullying people online—fundraise and advocate for cultural activities in your community.
To be clear, there is no singular Armenian experience. There are multiple ways of being & knowing Armenianness AND we can identify where they converge and diverge with one another, and how they are fluid with adjacent cultures. THIS is what makes Armenianness beautiful
