Not a lot we can make of Chelsea's game against Wolves in terms of their plan under Tuchel. They had one session together. Likely a team was picked and match instructions given. They can only improve in that respect

But perhaps the style, set up and intention gave us some clues.
It was a very possession dominant performance, Wolves were defensive and rigid but Chelsea almost forced them to play that way. They saturated the middle third with short passing. There was constant, steady, alternating, regular movement among the three behind Giroud.
It was about control. Chelsea controlled the tempo from start to finish. They weren't great at it, understandably so considering the time they've had to work that way but they tried it. I think that could be the future. A Man City/Liverpool style of strangulation through control.
The hardest part of playing that way is breaking down the inevitably back of defenders you force by playing that way. Man City have struggled with it, Liverpool are struggling with it currently; it's not easy. But they have the players, they have the quality. It's possible.
I think we could see Tuchel attempt to turn Chelsea into a team that can compete with the best stylistically. To take the initiative in games, to be proactive and aggressive with their approach. To be brave in their approach. Premier League title winners often play that way.
It's just one game. We could see something else entirely against Burnley and then against Tottenham. But if the Wolves game was anything to go by, we might have a new player at the high table moving forward.
