Hot off the press! As we release fresh #DiamondData on diversity in the UK television industry, here are the highlights of what we’ve found. THREAD 1/:
The latest data on #Diversity behind and in front of the camera in UK television shows disabled people are still massively under-represented both on and off screen. They’re 17% of the UK’s workforce, but only 5.8% on contributions on off-screen roles. 2/
Our data shows that off-screen roles in #TV are highly gendered. #Women predominate in Costume and Wardrobe (78.5%) and Hair and Make-up (98.3%) roles, but Camera, Sound and Lighting roles are overwhelmingly occupied by men. #DiamondData #Diversity 3/
On-screen, #Women make fewest contributions in Comedy programmes (44.8%), and are also represented below UK population (51%) in Factual Entertainment (45.6%), Factual (48.7%) and Entertainment (46.5%) programmes. #Diversity #DiamondData 4/
