The take away from the new contra video, for me,is we are all Janice RaymondBots, we fear social progress&we are also irrational trauma survivors who should be understood but not allowed to get away with our bigotry.

I’ve thought about the video a lot since I watched. My main interpretation is that contra is having a completely different conversation to the one we are having, and just doesn’t realise it.
Nonetheless, I found it to utterly misrepresent jk Rowling and the rest of us.

It also manages to misunderstand the concerns around puberty blockers, misrepresent @AbigailShrier’s brilliant book and ignore that transvestic fetishism is an extremely common fetish amongst those who commit serial sexual murders when discussing JKR’s book.
It was the most moderate take from someone anti-Rowling that I’ve seen but it was still a castle made of straw and did not understand or seriously engage with what JK Rowling, and other women, have been trying to discuss.
