I helped fund this scholarship, because diversifying Jewish children's literature, and supporting Jewish creators regardless of what they write or create, is important to me, and I know that what gets published, and the idea of what a Jewish person looks like or is
is not truly reflective of what Jewishness looks like, around the world. And Highlights has been important to me. It's a beautiful, supportive space where you can clear your head and find some room to breathe, which feels like the biggest challenge some days doesn't it?
I'm not involved in picking who gets the scholarship, but I'm hopeful that there are Jewish writers and illustrators of color out there who apply for this. And I hope that other Jewish writers, agents, editors, illustrators who can contribute to the scholarship so
we can keep offering it year after year. Highlights can answer any questions about the scholarship, but please share it even if you're not sure if you know anyone who qualifies for it, and expect me to keep shouting about it!
You can donate toward the scholarship on the same link above if you are so inclined!
