I have been seeing a lot of commentary regarding the @Axiom_Space private crew make up. One point I do want to make is that we need to acknowledge a less spoke of barrier being surmounted here - the medical one. https://twitter.com/SpcPlcyOnline/status/1354089903013957632
...To be a governmental astronaut is to have won a genetic lottery. Amazing candidates can be screened out for medical conditions that they don't worry about in day-to-day life on Earth....
The medical criteria are less stringent for private spaceflight participants, and in one sense, does open access to space for more than just the healthiest. Our next step will be to address the space being for more than just the wealthiest...
Ultimately, we want to keep breaking down barriers to space across all strata - health, culture, gender, wealth, and create a large, diversified pool of space-goers. This is but the first step of a many-mile journey - congratulations @Axiom_Space! 🚀👩🏽‍🚀🌠
