Transport is a key element to achieve social inclusion. Greater social inclusion requires greater mobility &/or greater accessibility. None of which exists in Moyross. Will the Coonagh to Knockalisheen road deliver greater cohesion & social capital for ppl living in Moyross?
We know that Moyross is socially, economically & physically isolated from the city. Unable to access opportunities, services & social networks- due in no small part to insufficient mobility in a society & environment built on the assumption of high mobility.
A just society ensures participation of all & overcoming constraints (incl the ability to travel) to gain access to opportunities. A just society listens to the ppl from these communities & keeps promises delayed far too long. It’s simply too late to back-track on delivering
This road. Successive govts have ignored it, ignored the community in Moyross & fair play to the Green’s for not ignoring it. But equally it’s too late to change direction. It’s underway, it’s been promised, it’s not the road to stop. Stop the sprawl when the time comes & don’t
Allow developers acquire land for 000’s of homes in unwanted areas. Support LIT to extend. Income, employability & access to education are key deprivation measures - this road provides a perceived route toward all 3.
Its too late to change, too many ppl waiting too long. #Moyross
