Decades after WWII he was attacked as a collaborator of the Holocaust, first by a Commie and then a Catholic.

The attack on Pope Pius XII began with the play, "The Deputy" (1963) by the Communist playwright Rolf Hochhuth.

Reading this response by Rabbi Dolin is the scholarly equivalent of a snuff film. Cornwell is destroyed and the real history told: Pope Pius XII did everything he could to rescue Jews.

What's going on here??

The important thing to understand is that _Hitler's Pope_ was part of a civil war within the Catholic Church. Cornwell, a "theologically liberal" Catholic was firing artillery at a conservative Pope.

The Holocaust was just ammunition.
