I'm not gonna lie, I do not know @iamBrandonTV personally at all. We've never interacted. That's a good thing, because distance between creators and their fans is healthy and I get weirded out by parasocial behaviors. But his work is important for folks to watch, and here's why:
1: It's entertaining. The primary "purpose" of the entertainer is to entertain, and he does that in spaces. Check out his Twitch or his Twitter or anything he's doing and you will find something to engage your attention unless you have somehow become dead inside.
2: It's extremely socially conscious. He elevates social issues using the strength of his platform, because he recognizes that he has power and wants to use it for good. He recognizes that some followers aren't worth having if it compromises the message.
3: It's on his terms and his alone. If you're not doing the work and try to plug him for some performative nonsense, he will call you on it, make you look the fool in front of everyone, and block you irrevocably. It's important to see creators owning their space entirely.
So if you have the time, check out his stuff. He's the real deal. And then maybe find some work you could be doing, creatively, socially, or best of all both.
