The foundation of Hickman’s X-Men run is community, and I think that’s the single greatest thing that sets it apart from so much of X-History. No one has used the community aspect as their approach to leading the entire publishing line the way he has. (small thread below)
Most of the time, when the line is relaunched, books interact but not like the Krakoan era has. There’s a clear sense of connection of familiarity and continuity between each of the books, while still each retaining their own personalities.
X of Swords was a community event for the entire X-House, as we can see by how driven it was by other writers input into the story- Especially from Tini, who was arguably the leader.
The foundation of storytelling for this entire new era has also been community- Krakoa is for all mutants. Theyre all there! They’re all interacting and building a community, as we’ve seen over the last year.
Hell, even the current #XMenVote has been about community- Hickman is basing a choice of the Krakoan era X-Men off of what the community has to say. His approach to including community is what makes the DOX/ROX era so damn special.
