Preamble promises administration will use "best available" science and says "Scientific findings should never be distorted or influenced by political considerations.
Establishes new Task Force on Scientific Integrity that will do 120-day review of "effectiveness of agency scientific-integrity policies" issued since 2009 , identify "instances" in which integrity policies not followed &/or led to suppression or distortion of data...
OSTP will publish Task Force's report...
Agencies will need to review and update scientific integrity plans, and plans to build and evaluate evidence used in policy making...
Agencies will have say who they have designated as Chief Science Officer...
Agencies will have 90 days to review all of their science advisory committees, identify those that need to renewed or recreated, and those of "high priority" for appointed members...
White House in separate order also renews the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), with 26 members. This is essentially pro-forma...
