thread:

talked to a cop today while doing outreach in moss park with @ESN_TO. he was with city workers demolishing a tent and taking it to the landfill since it's 'garbage'. we explained to him that he is destroying and stealing someone's home.
pic of a city truck taking away the residents' tent down shuter today around 11:15am
for the @cityoftoronto @JohnTory @kristynwongtam, some people's homes are 'garbage'. and by people, i mean vulnerable members of our community who are purposely neglected and overpoliced by the city and its bureaucrats who make these decisions
there was a blizzard yesterday, the resident who lived in that tent was likely at a warming centre overnight and wasn't home yet this morning. cc:

lately, the city's new tactic for harassing and oppressing houseless people is surveilling the encampments until residents leave to, e.g. go to a shelter hotel, before they sneakily drop in to clear their homes before anyone can witness or intervene.
this is the city of toronto's winter response to houselessness and encampments - no support, just more creative ways of evictions & inflicting violence onto community members who need the most help. and in very harsh weather conditions!!! end of thread!
