Re: Pricing Discussion - these were my fursuit commission prices in 2008. I started this work while both having another job and living with my parents, plus money in savings. These prices were NOT sustainable. I had to raise my prices; I couldn’t rely on tips.
I did not get a lot of work even at my “cheap” prices - because my experience wasn’t there yet!! It took making a LOT more work and developing my skill to earn an audience interested in paying me fairly for my time. Plus, confidence in pricing projects confidence onto ur clients!
To transition to working on costumes full time, I had to start the work while maintaining another steady job at the same time. I lived with my parents. AND I built up savings as a cushion. All of that had to happen!! I also had to learn how to time myself and budget.
I get frustrated seeing the take that “hey charge more” is those of us with 13+ yrs of experience “punching down” - no, we are telling you this because we have BEEN THERE! We know it is hard!! It takes a lot to make it work! But it can happen! Keep it up ❤️
