I attended a learning session today on infection prevention & control for my national role in providing specialist public health advice.

With the new UK variant widely circulating and reports its between 50 and 70% more transmissible, we each have a role to play.
We need to go back to basics and each carry out the following:
The most effective measure to prevent the virus from spreading is to reduce our contacts.

We need to stay home and only travel for essential purposes such as medical treatment, essential food shopping (reduce the number of times we go ) & work from home if able.
🏘️
If we must see other people or we work with people for our role regardless of the settings, we must stay at least 2 metres apart.

Putting the space between you and others will make it harder for the virus to spread.

Frequent hand washing is needed throughout the day whether your at home, carrying out essential duties or in work.

Ideally this should be within soap and water, but alcohol based hand rub can also be used but it must include atleast 60% alcohol
In spaces that are shared such as households and workplaces or communal areas, frequent cleaning of surfaces and touch points needs to be carried out with disinfectant.

You should limited wherever possible the use of shared equipment such as pens, phones and headsets.
Using the correct grade and type of personal protective equipment for the duties you are undertaking is also required.

When out in public spaces wear a 3 layered face covering when required.
Whenever needed you should follow respiratory etiquette.

Coughs and sneezes spread diseases.
