I’m kind of torn on this Schilling thing. Obviously the guy is, to put it lightly, a piece of work. I also don’t think that should be a secret. Put on his plaque “pretty good pitcher. real shitty dude”. If the argument is “The HoF isn’t the place for that”, maybe (probably?) not!
I just think we, as a society, have a tendency to try and ignore our faults or even sweep them under the rug. How are we supposed to learn from mistakes and/or our past if we’re too busy covering them up?
If we’re treating the hall of fame like an honor? Yeah leave him out. I tend to think of it more like a baseball museum, and if that’s what is it (up for debate!) I think including and even airing flaws and faults along with accomplishments would serve us better
