A few years ago my teenage son was in his middle school science class. The teacher told him, “If I was Hitler you would have burned in an oven.” Two months later other students texted him pictures of Hitler. He was the only Jewish student in his class.
Religious based hate crimes on college campuses doubled between 2009 and 2017. Anti-Semitic hate crimes in the U.S. rose 14% in 2019. Everyone saw the Auschwitz sweatshirt during the Capitol riots on January 6th.
So while I see a lot of people posting today about #HolocaustRemembranceDay , what are you doing the other days? Are you teaching your kids? Speaking out? Condemning anti-Semitism, racism, prejudice, oppression, and intolerance?
