/10. It all began when I visited my uncle in February who is an experienced farmer. I was inspired and he gave me 300grams of onion seed and said start from there. I went home and did alot of research on onion farming
/10. With the little knowledge I had and a small piece of communal land my grandmother had given me to start my journey. I planted the seed in May at home in Mutare Dangamvura. I watered it daily as per requirements.
/10. When God has his hands on your work things flow. A good friend of mine Tawanda Kofi visited whilst i was busy planning on going to the rural areas to prepare land where the seedlings were to be transplanted. He offered to help. Free of charge
/10. Because the place was abandoned as old grandma had moved to live in town we had no accommodation. We slept in a camping tent and had a bottle of Gilbert's gin to keep us warm during the harsh winter nights
/10. The land preparations began. Kofi knew nothing about farming as well but as ignorant as we were. We were able to make a good home for the seedlings.
/10. Despite all the transportation hustles of moving the seedlings from Mutare to their new home during a national lockdown. We managed to carefully transplant the seedlings. It took us a full week but we did not lose hope
/10. Fast forward to November we had a bumper harvest we managed to harvest 15 000+ bulbs. I sold half as i needed the money for re investment in the rainy season and dried the other half waiting for the season when onion prices rise.
/10. In November I took a big risk and planted tomatoes. However, it ended in tears as they were affected by excessive rainfall. But failure is not fatal. We learn from mistakes. I am still working on venturing into tomato production after requisition of adequate knowledge.
/10. Inspired by @terrymap1 i decided to also venture into free range chickens (road runners). Challenges are there as I am meeting some of the problems for the first-time but growth has ups and downs. I have dreams of feeding the nation one day.
/10. Thanks to everyone who has been supporting me throughout my journey. Special mention to @PrettyCasey3 thank you for bringing stiff competition and the daily motivation. Our journey is just begining more is still to come.
