Prisoner Solidarity Network and @undodcymru have been made aware of the ongoing harassment and separation of 1st language Welsh speakers by staff at HMP Berwyn in North Wales. [2]
The issue received widespread media attention last year after an Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) report outlined discrimination against native Welsh speakers inside @OfficialBerwyn. Here's an article about that report https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-54324232 [3]
Despite official criticisms by the IMB, Welsh Affairs Committee and Welsh Language Commissioner, this treatment is ongoing.

It's also illegal under the Welsh Language Act, and the Human Rights Act. [4]

Nearly one million people speak Welsh: many of these people speak it as their first language. To speak Welsh as a first language is to live, feel and communicate through the medium of Welsh: something that is legally protected under law after generations of struggle. [5]
Undod and Prisoner Solidarity Network are demanding that the threats, separation and sanctions of Welsh-speaking prisoners at HMP Berwyn, and across the whole prison estate, stops. [6]
In particular, it is demanded that

🔸An end to the threats and punishment of Welsh speakers
🔸An end to the isolation and separation of Welsh speakers
🔸An end to the delays in access to Welsh language letters
🔸Access to Welsh-language media for Welsh speakers [7]
