This is Julius Fromm (1883-1945), he was a Jewish-Polish immigrant who moved to Germany with his family as a child. Fromm invented the condom vending machine & the “cement dipping” method which created the first seamless condoms.

Thread!
After the First World War, condoms were still being made from animal gut. There were rubber condoms but they were very, very thick and made by layering rubber sheets around a mould.
Fromm’s new “cement dipping” method (patented in 1916) created liquid rubber to dip the mould into, rather than layering sheets. This made condoms very thin and seamless. “Fromms Act” went into production in 1922 & were a huge success.
Germany in the Weimar Republic was quite sexually liberated & condoms (or Fromms as they were known) were sold openly - though sold as aids to “hygiene”, rather than as a contraceptive.
In 1928, Fromm’s company produced the first condom vending machines which were installed in bars and clubs.
Within a few years, Fromm opened three factories and had amassed a considerable fortune. The company also made baby bottle nipples and rubber gloves
Fromm had flourished but as the Nazis rose to power, he and his company were repeatedly attacked by anti Semitic propaganda. In 1938, the Nazis forced Fromm to sell all of his factories for a fraction of their value, to Baroness Elisabeth von Epenstein, Hermann Göring's godmother
In 1939, Fromm and his family fled to London. They survived the Holocaust but Fromm died suddenly on 12 May 1945. He never got his factories back.
Years later, Julius Fromm's son Herbert Fromm had to pay 174,000 Marks to Otto Metz-Randa for the rights to the name Fromm. Metz-Randa was Elisabeth von Epenstein's lover and had managed to have the company put in his name.
From there, Herbert Fromm licensed a Bremen company to produce Fromms condoms. In July 1994, the Office for the Settlement of Disputed Property Claims confirmed the legitimacy of the Fromm heirs’ claim to the property in Köpenick.
The company, now called Mapa, still produces condoms to this day. The most well known of which is the Billy Boy condom
