Welcome to my thread on Spillage Village, a hip-hop collective based out of Atlanta.

In this thread I'll cover their beginnings, discography, and add in some fun videos and facts about them!

Enjoy!
Spill Vill was founded in 2010 by Johnny Venus and WowGr8 (EARTHGANG), and JID was recruited very quickly as they met the same year at the same university, Hampton U.
They then added Hollywood JB and Jurdan Bryant before the release of their first project, Bears Like This.
Soon after the release of their first album, they brought on Mereba & 6LACK. This is when Spillage Village started to take off. Mereba showed she wasn't just a beautiful singer, but a badass rapper too!
2015 brought us Bears Like This Too, the second installment. The intro track Metropolis gives off such a space vibe with EARTHGANG and JID giving an excellent lyrical performance. It was a great tone setter for the rest of the album.
One track I wanted to highlight on here was Fryin'. I'll never forget my first listen thinking "damn, is this really Mereba!?". She straight STOLE this track! Just take it in. And let's also appreciate the album cover, one of my favorites.
In 2016 the group was busy with tours and promo but still found time to create Bears Like This Too Much. It stayed consistent with keeping a project under 40 minutes but they got some more features on this one.
Fun fact, on a DJ Khaled project, Major Key, Hollywood JB had a track he produced for J. Cole on it. That track was later edited for Bears Like This Too Much. The track Can't Call It featured Cole, Bas, EARTHGANG, and JID.
The rest of the album featured some great tracks like Yellow Snow (Freestyle), Voodoo, Willow Tree, and M.O.M. For some reason I just love JID's flow on M.O.M, it's extremely wave & one of my favorites tracks from them.
Only 1 year later we find out that JID and EARTHGANG signed onto Dreamville, and most of Spill Vill made it onto ROTD3 as well. From 2017-2020 they really focused on their solo work and some amazing collabs with other artists.
4 Years later, in 2020 we got Spilligion, a very anticipated album. The reviews are very mixed but personally, I LOVED it! The mixture of soul, funk, hip-hop, gospel, and other genres was an excellent touch. And not to mention to collective of features on here!
Benji was the 8th member to join the group. A huge reason for Spill Vill creating this project was due to the quarantine in 2020, it kind of forced them into finishing the project. Their chemistry only got better with the creation of this album & it really showed.
Now, this project featured some amazing tracks that I wanted to highlight. The first being one of their singles from it, Baptize. They all rapped their asses off if we're being honest here.
Spilligion was also home to my favorite track to drop in 2020, Hapi. The vibes I get from it are immeasurable. And how did they manage to get Big Rube to jump on lmao. And Benji, man what a performance!
Before I end my thread I did want to highlight their Tiny Desk performance. Specifically their performance on End of Daze. Also, GENIUS that they performance in a church lol.
To conclude my thread, Spillage Village has some incredible chemistry & energy. I've always enjoyed their music as a collective & I can't wait to see what they do next!

I hope you enjoyed my thread, thank you!
