/8 We heard Helen Duckworth explain how relationships in a local health system like Liverpool are key to the success of informing decision based on rapid evaluation. As well as the need to have the right people in the right place with the right skills as well as drive.
/8 Professor @Benj_Barr talked about the value of having access to linked patient information, allowing you to create a matched control group, to really understand the impact of change programmes.
/8 @MichaelLawrie1 explained that in a learning health system "not everything needs to be evaluated" but instead we need to target our resources where they make the most difference.
/8 Mike Woodall made the very important observation that "Learning health systems needs to learn from within but also from outside the health system", making sure relevant evidence informs learning and helps develop thinking within the health system.
/8 Philippa Darnton shared her thinking on some of the challenges rapid evaluation in learning health systems is facing. In particular, concerns about the acceptance of evidence that is generated so quickly, and the need to be honest about the limitations of rapid evaluation.
/8 Finally, @amavrodaris shared that quite often evaluation provides added value to a change initiative even before the evaluation results are available. Approached and methods taken in evaluation can help shape an intervention, and ask critical questions early on.
/8 Finally, the quote of the day also goes to @amavrodaris when she finished on "It is not about the tea you drink, but about whom you drink it with".
