Kentucky has now played themselves out of the NCAA tourney. I decided to crunch some numbers and compare Cal’s first half of his career at Kentucky to his second half. Im not saying FIRE CAL but I’m sure there are critics who will argue. Here is a quick thread on what I found.
From 09-15, Cal’s record was 190-38. From 16-current (I included their current record) Cal’s record is 145-48. There’s a significant 45 game difference in number of games won and 10 more loses.
From 09-15 in the NCAA tourney, Cal reached the elite 8, final 4, Champs, NIT, National Runner-Up, and final 4. From 16-Current, Cal reached round of 32, elite 8, sweet 16, elite 8, tournament canceled, and not making the tournament this season based on regular season record.
Cal has finished 1st or 2nd in the SEC each season except for in 17-18 (4th). Yes Cal has won major games BUT has not done so since 2015. Since 2015, Cal is 22-20 against ranked teams. The last 5 seasons have resulted in less wins and less success in NCAA tourney.
